When you think of a“bike race” it may bring to mind visions of a lycra-clad peloton, a breakaway or a bunch sprint.
But for a group of Elevate members, the Zia Rides mountain bike events are a perfect venue to simply celebrate riding.
At the April 12 Hours in the Wild West in Ruidoso, Elevate had team, duo and solo podium finishers(and a kick-butt support team of Elevate coaches).
But for most riders it was less about the win and more about being part of a community that shares a love of riding and the outdoors.
In late June, Elevate will field a team or two(8-10 riders each) for the 24 Hours in the Enchanted Forest and we’d love to have to along for the ride.
The event is a giant family-friendly camp-out in the Zuni Mountains where teams ride a relay race for 24 hours.
It’s a great place to ride(it’s non-technical singletrack) and the venue in the ponderosa pines has plenty of space to hang out with other riders and the Elevate tribe. There will also be vendors, movies, and kid activities. And did we mention beer?
Minimal riding experience is required and whether you come to“just ride” and have fun or“make the podium” and have fun we won’t judge.
If interested, add your name to the list at the front desk and we’ll be putting out details soon. Cost for the weekend is $150 and will include entry fee and at least one meal.
