Day 4— St. Christina – Kaltern
For as steep as the ups are, the downs are just as steep. We are rountinely descending at 40-50 mph on roads. The trails are the same. When we can, we either try to move around the group before a descent or
just find a line and force our way through. People will not let you through; even when they crash they routinely block the trail.
Stage 5 — Kaltern – Trento
I didn’t feel great. I have been relentless in staying in the moment and not thinking about what is ahead or the suffering. But during the last hard miles I had to ask myself: “are my legs done?” (Answer: “my legs are fine.”) “Am I having a hard time breathing?” (Answer: “No.”)“Well I don’t feel good but that other stuff doesn’t pedal my bike.” I got what I needed to get it going again.
