Our new ElevatePHW/Bikeworks ABQ team started the 2017 season strong with the completion of our annual race camp and Moab Rocks, a three-day mountain bike stage race in Moab, Utah.
Seven riders on the team joined the field who covered more than 75 miles and approximately 10,000 feet of climbing over the three days. They were prepared for the adventure and came home with big grins, sore legs and feelings of accomplishment.
It was an incredible field in both mountain biking skill and fitness — drawing the likes of Canadian Olympic mountain biker Geoff Kabush. It was exciting and motivating to be riding and competing with the best in the sport.
Moab Rocks was the latest in the team’s mountain bike adventures which have included backcountry point-to-point rides and base-camp rides for the past four years.
For some of the members of the team, an event like Moab is the single biggest physical challenge of their lives; for others, it’s a part of the journey to something bigger.
Other multi-day races on the schedule this year include the Breck Epic in Breckenridge, Colorado, in August. And four members of the crew are training for the 7-day TransAlp mountain bike stage race in Austria and Italy scheduled for July.
